What is NORMAL?

How does Eli describe his life before his family was forced to move? How old was he? Where did he live? What did he find enjoyable?

  1. Eli describes his life in Sighet as a typical Jewish life. At age 13 he was studding the Torah and going to the temple every night. He had 3 siblings and his parents ran a shop in the town. Eli loved to pray and to study his religion. He states that he used to cry while praying and talking to God.

  3. Eli describes his live before his family was forced to move as a usual Jewish child life. He would go to the temple every day and would study the Torah. He became very emotional while praying.

  4. Eli took his life very seriously he would do everything a normal Jew would do. Except what he did differently was he actually meant every bit of it. When he went to the temple to rehearse, pray, and study the Torah he would use every ounce of love, compassion, and heart into it. He had a normal size family with three siblings. His family was using the money they had from their shop in town and would use that for the food and shelter they received.

  5. Sounds like you gained the understanding that the family worked hard for what they had. Did you get the sense that Eli was close with his siblings?

  6. Sorry i missed this but my answer is:
I think he was close to his siblings because he went through all of these hardshps. But him and his two sisters were closer after their parents died.

  7. Eli was 13 years old before the Holocaust. His family owned a shop and very close. Eli was very religious during his childhood and was always deeply involved in prayer. He lived in Sighet, Romania and found studying about his faith and reading the Torah to a great past time. In fact, he often visited the Temple and considered being a Rabbi.
