  1. I think Artie titles chapter 3 'Here My Troubles Began' because this is when change was happening constantly. He could no longer use his work skills to help him get along. One example of change was getting on the train when he thought he was going to get out. The train kept going and going and he had no idea when it would stop or where it would stop. I think the biggest problem he faced this far was getting Typhus. Up until this point in the book he's had his health and he used that towards his advantage. Now that was not healthy and was very weak, its going to be harder for him to survive.

  2. I think the reason Artie titles Chapter 3 "Here My Troubles Began" because he faces many challenges in this chapter. For example, he gets typhus. He also faces the challenge of getting food because they would check the shirts for lice and if your shirt had lice, you would not get any soup. There is also the challenge of staying alive on the journey to Dachau. Also, his troubles could mean the troubles he faces in the present. For example, he returns empty food containers back to the store and he is racist towards black people. He has trouble with throwing things out. I think the biggest problem he faces is his past. It haunts him. He does things that other people find crazy or unusual because of his past.

    1. I agree that his past haunts him. It has completely changed his life and it is something he has to live with until he dies.

  3. Artie titles Chapter Three "Here My Troubles Began" because his troubles are not over as he thinks they would be since liberation is so close. Vladek gets typhus, loses more friends, and ends up in more trouble than he was in the beginning. What is really saddening is that liberation is so close in the future, yet Vladek must survive through more train rides, being held at gun points, and hiding from Nazis. The biggest problem that Vladek faces is his past continuing to interrupt his present. One of the biggest examples of this is seen in Vladek's food-hoarding habits.

    1. I agree that this is a very hard chapter because you think he should be saved, but really he just has to fight harder for survival than he did before.

  4. I think Artie titles chapter 3 " And here my troubles begans" because his trouble aren't over yet. He gets sick, loses friends. I think the biggest problem is that his past haunts him. He can't forget the memories that are left.

  5. I think it is titled that because like Artie said when Vladek was in the store, in some ways he didn't survive the marches. Having to see friends die and getting typhus would probably make some people go crazy.

    2. I also think that seeing his friends die, could never really leave his mind. He probably thought about it every time he closed his eyes. PF R.E. LEE

  6. i think the reason he labels this chapter (3) ,and here my troubles began is because he knows his troubles have never really went away, For awhile he was surrounded by it. NB RE LEE

  7. I think it's titled that because of Dachau. The biggest problems he faced were most likely psychological problems from seeing so many people die around him. He mentions this to Artie on page 91.

  8. I think the reason he named it that was because, his troubles never really stopped going through his mind. Even though they had "stopped" he still had to think about them every day. The problems he faced were most likely always going through his mind. PF R.E. LEE

  9. Chapter 3 was titled " here my troubles began " because his troubles never left him. All the problems he's had are slowly creeping up on him again.
