In Chapter Four, Artie depicts the story of Vladek's liberation. How does telling this story impact Artie? How does it impact Vladek? At this moment, with which character do you feel a stronger connection?
I think Artie is glad to have the photographs but I think he feels sad because so many people in his family died during the Holocaust. I think he is also upset because his father does not have many photographs of his side of the family but I also think Artie is glad that he finally got to hear what happened to his family. I think the story impacts Vladek in a bad way. He got rid of his wifes journal because he wants to forget the past. Also, when he finished telling Artie the story, he starts to feel tired and sick. I think I have a stronger connection with Vladek because I feel sorry for him. He's gone through so much and his past still affects him in the present.
Artie and Vladek's relationship grows and thaws from the beginning of the book. Artie is not as hard with his dad, and the scene with the photographs at the end connects the two of them even more. The photographs hit a soft spot in Artie's heart because these are family members that he has never met. Vladek's health is failing, and it is difficult for him to talk about his past. Right now, I feel closer to Artie because he gets easily frustrated with his dad, and he just wants to learn about his father's past.
Artie and his dad's relationship has grown since the beginning of the book. I feel closer to vladek because I feel bad for what has happened and what he has gone through. I think Artie is glad to have the photos but then again sad because of how many of his family members died during the holocaust. M.S
Artie and Vladek's relationship has grown since the beginning of the book. In the beginning Artie was very short with his father and was very quick to get annoyed. Now he listens to Vladek and he tries to understand why Vladek is the way he is. I think that is due to his story of liberation. Right now I feel more connected to Vladek because I don't agree with the way Artie has treated him throughout the book. I think Artie should have been more understanding with his father instead of rushing through their visit with him.
the relationship between Artie and vladek has grown over a large span of time, But i feel like artie should have had more patience with his father. NB RE LEE
I think it makes Artie appreciate his Father more because there is a better understanding and respect that Artie has found for his father. Vladek seems more cooperative, and has gotten less bitter from telling his stories since he has gotten used to it. I feel more for Vladek because he went through so much that would make a regular person go crazy but he hanged on.
Artie and his father have a much more social relationship. At the beginning of the book, Artie was socially very far away from his father. When he was asked to come to his house, it was almost a bother for him to come over, but now it is a passion for Artie to learn about Vladek and appreciate him more. Artie feels kind of sad because of what he has heard about all the people that Vladek lost. Vladek is also affected by the story because he says that he does not feel good. This is obviously showing that the memories deeply affect and worry him. I feel a strong connection to Vladek because I can see how hard it would have been for the man. I couldn't imagine going through all of that and having to look back on it. (141 words)

ReplyDeleteI also feel closer to Vladek, what he went through was awful and its so sad that he has to deal with that for the rest of his life.
